Spectacular thermal images of bats | Making of

Bats fly mainly under the cover of darkness. Using the latest thermal imaging technology, I was able to make swarming bats visible. I realized the shoot at a summer roost, which is known as the largest maternity roost of the Soprano pipistrelle bat in Thuringia.
In winter, I filmed the brown long-eared bat and the Daubenton’s bat in hibernation. In this sensitive phase, I naturally proceeded as gently as possible in coordination with the responsible authority and experts.

I shot two exciting bat videos for the @natura2000.osterland. They are part of the app-supported forest adventure trail in the forest of Gera.
